Why We Offer Water to The Sun

To strengthen Sun and move towards on the path of light morning prayer to the Sun is important. When the sun comes in the morning, both the hands of the seeker are folded and the head bows. It is the surrender of the ego and every surrender takes the seeker closer to the light. Therefore, morning prayer to the Sun is important.  The seeker takes water in his hand and offers it to the Sun. Critics say that water cannot reach the Sun because it is millions of miles away and this operation is useless. In fact, they do not understand the meaning of why our ancient sages have been doing this for ages.

According to the author, this method teaches us to give. When both our hands offer water to the Sun in the morning, it is a giving posture due to which our mind becomes pure and calm like water. That man's race to snatch and rob from others in the world begins to end. One who starts the morning by giving and immersing his ego does not join the race of snatching. The qualities of a great giver start developing in him.

This bowed head and giving posture of hands has strong power to change a person completely. The gradually disappearing ego makes a person as pure as water. Therefore, giving water to the Sun is not to reach it but to melt our ego. This is the real prayer to the Almighty.

Sun is associated with the spiritual growth of a person. Therefore, for spiritual development we should worship Lord Sun daily and chant Gayatri Mantra.
